Fall settles in

Fall has definitely descended on this corner of Oregon. Even last week when there were some really hot days it stayed cool for a lot longer and didn't get hot until well into the afternoon. Today was grey and little chilly. Though it is always kind of a bummer to transition from the nice warmth of summer, especially knowing that the constant rain is not far away, I really do like autumn. I'm excited to actually be around for when all of the trees change colors, that is one thing that I missed in Claremont because so many of the trees just kind of slowly faded to ugly yellow and then dropped their leaves in like February. SoCal doesn't really understand the whole concept of fall.

I'm writing this because I don't want to do my personal statement. However, there is a Rockstar in the fridge downstairs and it is getting close enough to the deadline that I might have to put that to use and just pound something out so I can start editing and get feedback from all the lovely people that I will be sending it to (and yes, that could be you). I have been slightly productive on other fronts. For example, I realized that unlike the general GRE the subject tests are only offered like 3 times a year and soooooooo I'm taking the Bio GRE Oct 18th. boo. University of Georgia is the only school that requires it but it is worth it considering that UGA would be much closer to Scott than Corvallis and they have a really good equine program. We shall see. About 1/3 of the test is ecology and evolution stuff that I didn't take any upper division classes in and really don't care for so that'll be the biggest challenge to study for. I got me some trusty prep books that should help me. As far as the other GRE goes, I got my writing score a while ago, 5.5 booya! And they also sent me this notice about how the computer doesn't always do the best job it can in selecting questions to adequately test you, yadayada and it offered to let me re-take the verbal part for free. But, I've probably forgotten most of the vocab by now and I was happy enough with my score that I don't care about retaking it.

Oh and for anyone who is curious I'm applying to 9 schools, mostly because my dad kept hounding me about applying to so few schools and he's paying so I'll apply to several.

THE LIST:
Oregon State, University of Georgia, Auburn, U Penn, Tufts, University of Wisconsin (why I'm not really sure), Virginia-Maryland, U Illinois, and Colorado State

and, I got to see Liz and Nicole last night! They both happened to be in LO for the night and so we went to dessert and I got to have friends for an hour which was awesome. yay friends!

Hey, don't knock Wisconsin! They have cows. Lots of them. And a 5.5% sales tax. Which is not as good as Oregon but better than LA.

With that said, go to Minnesota instead. It's better!
