Stupid piece of crap smoke alarm just went off for no fucking reason. GAH! So this alarm, which happens to be right outside my bedroom door has a history of being temperamental, I actually don't know who decided to put the same old piece of shit back up there, clearly not a good idea! It must have thought that the steam which came out of the bathroom after I took a shower was smoke. STEAM DOES NOT EQUAL SMOKE. get it right, you are a smoke detector, not a every thing that wafts by me detector. So boo, now my stomach is all in a knot because after climbing on my chair and yanking it out of the ceiling I ran around the house, you know just to make sure there wasn't smoke billowing from some unknown corner. There wasn't, but after that time that the dryer caught on fire I think the idea of fire and such freaks me out even more, especially when I'm the only home, like now. Maybe I'll just drink a beer to calm down...
My mom is gone for the night, gone to the beach. I called my dad to see if he wanted to go to a movie or something tonight but he didn't answer and he rarely checks his messages so might just be me and the dogs yet again. It really does suck to not have any friends around. In better news, I got the job at the vet hospital, wooooooooo! Turns out they were taking so long to make a decision because there was another applicant they really like also and they were trying to figure out a way to hire both of us. They did, and I start on Monday. I'll be working Mondays and Tuesdays from 2-close which varies from like 7-8:30. The pay is shit, $8.50 (is that even minimum wage in Oregon?) but I'm really doing it for the experience so that's not particularly important to me. I'm still shadowing the equine vet every Wednesday so that leaves a few more days to possibly get another job. I've also thought about volunteering at OMSI, the science museum, because it is rad and I like science. For now, I am continuing my Bio GRE studying and I'm gonna start my online physiology class soon. All of my vet school applications are done, except for Tufts which isn't due till November. Here's hoping I get some interviews/acceptances. 6 of the 9 places I applied to do interviews.
Today I rode Ina and Impy and they were both pretty well behaved. We are offering to basically give Impy to the people who are leasing her so I hope they go for it. She'd stay at the same barn and I could still ride her and all that and it would be nice to not have to worry about her when I go off to vet school. I took Ina out on her first sort of trail ride this week! She was pretty awesome, much better than Impy or Lefty would be by themselves. She gets a little spooky and stubborn but she doesn't spin and try to run back to the barn like a crazy horse, something her mom does, nor does she rear and completely lose her brain like Lefty does. I also practiced some trail obstacles with her. I put a cone on top of one barrel and we picked up the cone, rode to another barrel and put the cone. She could have cared less, I put the cone on her butt, held it in my lap, rested in on her head, she didn't seem to mind. We also backed through an "L" on the ground, and considering that I have never really asked her to back up under saddle before, she was really good.
What other mundane news can I bestow upon you? Well, I finally got the two Obama '08 signs that I ordered forever go. One has a very prominent position on the corner of our yard, hehe. Take that you McCain loving neighbors. All in all things are going pretty well. Mostly I just miss all of my friends a whole lot, I'm gonna try and visit Liz and Nicole once I take the stupid Bio GRE and then Liz will be back at the end of October, for at least a little while till she figures out whatever she is gonna do next. Speaking of October, put out some sweet Halloween decorations yesterday, I do love me some holiday decor. And I have rambled enough, adios amigos!
